Any who knows me knows that I am not much of a gamer. Not a lot of time, and I have better things to spend my money on. However, about two years ago my Kindle Fire popped up a message that I might be interested in Mortal Kombat X. It was free, so why not give it a try?

For a game meant to be played on a phone or tablet, the graphics are very impressive. The controls are limited, but easy to master, and the game play is similar to the console and PC versions. Pretty much the only thing you can't do is jump over your opponent. But you can block, use basic attacks and have a variety of special attacks. They make the game more fun with challenges to win new characters, Battle Mode (a story mode of sorts), Shao Kahn's Tower to win new abilities and Faction Wars to fight against other players. The end game in all modes is winning stuff. It might be various currencies in the realm, or equipment, or even new and more powerful characters.

The game is pretty straightforward. You play and win, you get stuff. You lose, you don't. If you enter a challenge for a character, you have to complete 100% of it to get the prize. You don't have the fight power to get it done, well then you miss out.

I find the game fun and challenging to play and you don't even have to invest a whole lot of time in it.
